Curious facts about Bible heroes – 8

Here in North America the news in the past month has been filled with the horrific pictures and stories of devastation caused by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. Although we live some 200 miles north of the affected area in South Texas, we know many people who were affected directly or who responded with help in many different forms. Such disasters are heartbreaking and often make us turn to God to ask “Why?” But Jesus reminds us in John 16:33I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (NLT) Jesus promises to be with us THROUGH all the adversity and suffering. One of the people in the New Testament who set us a good example of how to endure suffering and still accomplish great things for God is Paul. This month’s message is a great reminder of how God is faithful to be with us and protect us from anything that would stop us from fulfilling His plan for our life!
