Joy with Jesus teaching – What is the perfect family?
Hopefully you have all been able to enjoy wonderful Christmas celebrations with your family, yet we know that Christmas can also often be a very sad time for some people. With another year gone, sometimes we have lost family members or there have been changes in our family. Even with family traditions, we find that things have to change at times and it is tempting to look back and wish that things could be the way they used to be. But many years ago I realized an important fact – something that NEVER changes is often actually DEAD! Life IS change and, like it or not, we all grow older and new choices bring new changes. It is all beyond our control; and the sooner we can accept and adjust to those changes, the easier life will be – and the sooner we can start enjoying it again!
If we compare ourselves to others we can often fall into sadness and self-pity – even though we don’t known the true facts about someone else’s situation! But rather than focusing on another person, let’s focus on Jesus and ask Him to help us see the positive things about the changes we are facing. Our Heavenly Father already knows what lies ahead for us and we can trust Him to be with us as we adjust to each new situation. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
Happy New Year! Shirley.
