Bible Bedtime Stories – The Prodigal Son (part 2)
We’ve divided the Parable of the Prodigal Son into two parts, as there are TWO important lessons to teach little ones in this story. Last time the theme was repentance, forgiveness and restoration. This time, the story of how the Prodigal’s brother responds to his return home illustrates a very HUMAN reaction (sadly even common among Christians!) – that of impatience towards those who mess up their life. As we do our best to teach our little ones to resist the temptations of worldliness, and to recognize the blessings of being obedient, hard working and appreciative, we must also make sure that we help them not be dismissive of those who mess up. Life most certainly is NOT fair and we can all relate to how the “good” brother felt. But the father (representing our Heavenly Father) reminds us that what is even MORE important than fairness is love and grace!
