As we start into this new year of 2025, many of us are aware of a more positive feeling and anticipation of upcoming changes in our country. There is no doubt that, whether it be through fact-checking of news, investigative documentaries or the Holy Spirit revealing the truth, the Light is penetrating the Darkness! Romans 1:18 says: “God’s anger is revealed from heaven against all the sin and evil of the people whose evil ways prevent the truth from being known.” (GNT)
We know that Christ tells us in John 8:31-32: “Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” But as Christians, how should we respond to these revelations of the truth? We certainly cannot sit back happily and say, “Well, God is taking care of everything!” We must step forward into the Light and do our part to spread that Light by sharing the Truth to those who are still in the darkness.
I recently read a report in The Daily Wire showing how Christians around the world are facing increased violence and threats because of their faith: in 2024 some 380 million believers worldwide faced high levels of persecution or discrimination for their faith – a sharp increase over the previous year. In the following link, https://www.opendoors.org/en-US/getinvolved/arise-africa/ we learn that 13 of the 20 most dangerous countries to follow Jesus are in Sub-Saharan Africa. Sadly, this fact is borne out by the reports from our friends there – as you will see below. Even if we do see positive change and progress in the coming months in our own country, let’s step up in our fight against the darkness to support and lift up in prayer those on the frontlines. Let’s not miss any opportunity to speak up against lies and darkness that we may encounter personally so that the truth CAN be known, and justice can be done. Let’s continue to pray and make a difference in 2025! Blessings, Shirley
Pastor Sika in Togo – He continues to be busy preaching truth through his weekly radio program and visiting animist villages in the countryside. He asks specifically for prayer for the new believers in Agbanake. About 80 people came to an evangelistic service there, and 11 gave their lives to Christ, but many are afraid to accept Christ for fear of being killed by the devil. The new believers have already been shunned by their families and face fierce persecution from other villagers. Please pray that God will strengthen the believers and confirm His Word with signs following so that the truth will be revealed.
We continue to pray for the health of Pastor Sika, Lucie, and all at the Joseph Project, and that God will provide all the finances and support needed for them and also the very important radio ministry. We also pray for God to provide the $2,500 needed for the orphan Sossou (pictured here) to start an apprenticeship learning about tractors – which would be a great benefit for the future of the orphanage. Pastor Sika is so grateful for all the faithful donors that have enabled the ministry to grow thus far.
Pastor Sika asks for our continued prayers and support for the year ahead, especially with regard to the monthly support of the Joseph Project Orphanage and ministries – which include helping the widows, local children, and those older students at the JP who are hoping to enter apprenticeships.
Pastor Honoré in Central African Republic – He sent us several photos of the CEERCA Christmas celebrations, as seen here. About 100 orphans received a special meal and everyone participated in the special fun. We remember that Pastor Honore and his family are still unable to live in their home on the property due to ongoing threats after their home was invaded and his family held hostage two years ago. We pray God will convict hearts and reveal the truth of the Gospel to those still in darkness, so that people can live in peace and freedom there as they seek to follow Christ.
